Dear Parents,

Our recent surveys have shown three major reasons parents choose St. John the Evangelist Catholic School. All of these three reasons are equally important to them:

  1. Good religious education with Christian values

  2. Good academic education

  3. Good discipline

Other surveys also demonstrate that, when parents work hand in hand with the school in building a positive relationship, when parents show an interest and are involved in school functions, and when parents participate actively in their child's education, there is a better opportunity for higher academic performance.

At the root of any good working relationship is good communication. This is why we have demonstrated the importance of communicating effectively and regularly through:

  • The Policy Book

  • Our yearly school calendar

  • Quarterly Progress Reports

  • Scheduled and unscheduled Parent/Teacher Conferences

  • Making of and returning personal telephone calls

  • The use of flyers when appropriate as reminders

  • The Church Bulletin

  • The use of personal letters mailed home

  • Quarterly Report Cards

  • The Home and School Association

  • The School Advisory Board

We have taken further steps to build up this communication priority through Parent Class Meetings. The purposes of these meetings are twofold: First to be a support system for our parents to share ideas with each other on how they may best guide their children in their educational pursuits as well to share ways to maintain Christian values in the un-Christian atmosphere of today's society. Secondly, the meetings are a way to clarify classroom issues that are of a general nature. Parent Class Meetings are always held in the Fall since there are agenda items necessarily initiated by the school faculty and/or the administration. Signed proposed agenda items from the parents must be submitted two weeks prior to the scheduled meeting. Parent Class Meetings are held in the Winter if there have been proposed agenda items submitted at least two weeks prior to the scheduled date for them.
