    Fund Frequenty Asked Questions (FAQ)

    1. What is the ENDOWMENT FUND?
The Sister Kathleen Lannak, IHM School Endowment Fund is a parish effort to provide a substantial financial base for the benefit of St. John the Evangelist School. The Fund will provide for the operational and the educational needs of the school.

    2. When was the ENDOWMENT FUND renamed?
The renaming of the Fund to SISTER KATHLEEN LANNAK, IHM SCHOOL ENDOWMENT FUND became effective at the school's 50th Anniversary Celebration 1950-2000, honoring our present principal of twenty-five years of dedicated leadership.

    3. Is the SCHOOL ENDOWMENT FUND approved by the Archdiocese of Washington? Archdiocesan of Washington approved the school Endowment Fund in March 1999 under Policy #2006 and is consistent with Canon Law #1267-3, which states: "The offerings given by the faithful for a definite purpose can be applied only for that same purpose." Any gift that is contrary to the purpose of the Fund or prohibited by Canon Law cannot be accepted.

    4. What types of gifts can be given?
Parishioners, school families, alumni, grandparents, relatives and friends contribute via pledges, checks and cash. Businesses, professionals, and organizations also give generously over the year. Annual fundraisers and matching gifts reach out across communities to bring the Fund over its goal. Contributions from foundations and grants that aid in the education of students - especially in the areas of math, language arts, technology, science and the arts - are welcomed and encouraged.

    5. Are there special ways to contribute to the Fund?
Yes! Memorial donations in honor of beloved ones are regularly made. Obituary listings suggest contributions be sent to the Fund by families of the deceased. The $1,000 Brick Project gives donors the opportunity to place an inscribed brick on designated areas of the school grounds. Both are very special.

    6. Whom do I contact about more information about the Endowment Fund?
The Endowment Office, located in the school - 301.592.1438, rectory office 301.681.7663 and/or Endowment Advisory Board (present or past) are available to you. Place our Fund with your annual charitable contributions.
N.B. Copies of the Endowment Policy Handbooks, Memorial Envelopes, Pledge Forms and Brick Projects Information are available at the school. Memorial Envelopes are also available at Francis Collins Funeral Home, Inc.
