St. John the Evangelist student council places an emphasis on student government as an experience in democracy. It is an opportunity to apply lessons of the classroom to real life, and an excellent tool for teaching the essential skills of critical thinking and responsible decision-making. Furthermore, it encourages social awareness and motivates community service.

Students in grades 4 through 8 may serve on Student Council. Elected officers and representatives become involved in student council by active participation in monthly meetings held the first Monday of each month. They are further provided an opportunity to attend various workshops.

The student council is committed to:

  • Encouraging students to set goals and work constructively towards achieving them;

  • Building self-esteem and self-confidence;

  • Motivating students to believe in themselves, their God, and others, get involved, care about others and show it, make a positive difference, risk wisely, and serve.
