This November, my class (the seventh grade, that is, with the help of Mrs. Hunn) ran a school-wide Thanksgiving food drive for Shepherd’s Table. We collected nonperishable foods from the kids in grades Pre K-8 and we had them driven down to
the shelter. We kicked off the food drive with a procession during our class Mass, the November first Friday. The grades walked up the aisle and placed canned goods into boxes that we had decorated. While we were decorating, we named a few crews: the Wrappers (who wrapped the boxes in colored paper, if a little sloppily) the Makers (who made the decorations go on the boxes). I made a leaf, a cornucopia, and a pie..delicious…Sophie made a hand-turkey, which we later had to give legs, because an argument broke out over whether it was a hand-turkey or just a hand. Finally, there were the Tapers, who taped the pictures to the boxes. In the end, we collected 322 items. We are very proud of our work. The food drive was very successful, and we ALL feel awesome knowing that we helped feed people this Thanksgiving.
