Student Life: A Video Welcome for the Pope
aaaiBy: Nathaniel Rogers "08

In early-to-mid-March Anthony Davis ('08) heard of a contest inviting students to make a video welcoming Pope Benedict XVI to the United States. The winning group would win fifteen tickets to see the pope and have their video shown to those gathered at Nationals Park for the Mass. So Anthony decided to gather some eighth graders (including me) to organize the video making.

First we got together to figure out what we were going to do with a storyboard. After we figured that out, we invited other kids at SJES to help and perform in the movie. Some students also helped to make posters for the video. On a mid-March Friday and Sunday we shot the film. After several takes, we went to Nathan Incognito's ('08) house, who was also our camera man, and we started editing the various takes. Once finished, we submitted our video in hopes that we would win and get our video shown, as well as get some tickets to see the pope! Though we did not win, we enjoyed all the steps involved in making this video for Pope Benedict XVI.
