small glass corner Greetings from Sr. Kathleen

Dear Friends,

On Friday, June 11, 2010, we stacked our desks and sent home a year’s worth of learning, completing the 59th year of Catholic education for children of St. John the Evangelist parish and the surrounding areas. This year, like other years, had its usual (and shall I also say normal?) ups and downs, even though we had extra days off because of the record snow fall and ice. How quickly the mind seems to forget that which posed serious challenges at the time. Only goes to prove St. Theresa’s words: “All things are passing, this too shall pass.”

September 17, 2010 will mark the diamond anniversary of our school. Many people are hard at work planning various activities which will mark this historic time in our parish. First and foremost, there will be a special liturgy on Sunday, September 19 at 12:00 noon, to begin this celebration. We will enjoy the privilege to pray with our former pastor --now Bishop Knestout -- as the main celebrant of the Liturgy. A picnic will follow right here on our school grounds. On October 23rd our Fall Gala & Auction will be held in our school auditorium. Each month, thereafter, activities are being planned to continue this celebration. We hope as many as possible will join us in these festivities.

Throughout this 59th year, we prayed as a total school community for all those who asked for our prayers, those who had no one to pray for them, the sick and the dying and for all those in our Armed Forces. Even though school is now out for the summer months, be assured that as readers of this Journal, you also have been, are and will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Sister Kathleen Lannak, I.H.M. Principal The end.
