Mission Work

“Go into the whole world”, the Risen Christ still commands us today (Mk 16:15). Relying on his companionship, St. John’s parishioners can offer their witness of an authentic and fully human life of love to those in need in other places of the United States and the world.
Mission Trip to Camden, New Jersey
For the past three summers, St. John's has sent a group of high school students and adult leaders to participate in the Romero Center's "Urban Challenge" at the Pro-Cathedral of St. Joseph in Camden. There the young people have offered the gift of themselves at nursing homes, child care centers, food pantries and other works in one of the nation's most impoverished cities. See pictures of the 2012 Mission Trip here! The next trip is June 17-21, 2013. Watch the bulletin for more details.
"I found Camden to be a very humbling experience. It changes your view on the troubles of the poor, and helps you to look at them in a different light. I definitely recommend this experience for anyone looking for a service trip that is unconventional." -Patrick Newkumet, Camden 2012
