“Christ is hidden under the suffering appearance of anyone who is hungry, naked, homeless, or dying.”
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta
SERVICE: Taking Care of His Suffering Body

Welcoming the Stranger

The presence of Jesus “in the flesh” is most evident in the faces of men, women and children who are strangers in our midst. In serving and loving them here at St. John’s, we can serve and love him.

For new community members who speak different languages, our website can be changed using the Google Translator below. (And sorry if the translated words aren't always exactly correct!)

If you know of someone in need of our assistance, call the parish Samaritan Line, 301-593-1888.

St. Teresa's Exhortation

Christ has no body on earth now, but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which the compassion of Christ must look out on the world. Yours are the feet with which he is to go about doing good. Yours are the hands with which he is to bless his people.

-St. Teresa of Avila (1515-1582)
