September 2001

Welcome all! Hope everyone had a great vacation. We've been busy all summer, working on ways to improve the youth group. We have been meeting with the committee chairs and Mrs. Newkumet to plan our activities for the upcoming season. Our goal for the year is to begin our transition towards a "youth-run" organization. With the support of our adult advisors, we are attempting to learn just what it takes to run this group. Trust me, it's harder than it looks.

In the hopes of making this the best year, we are going to offer a wide range of activities. We know that you have some great ideas and we look forward to hearing about them. Just remember, the calendar is never too full... just suggest an activity to your committee leaders and help them plan it.

This year, we will also be offering more opportunities for our members to do service projects. We know that in doing service for others, we grow in our faith, for Jesus said, "whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers... you do unto me". Our commitment to service began this past summer when 36 Y&F members spent a week in New Jersey participating in a youth mission called Catholic H.E.A.R.T. Workcamp. For those of us that went, the experience will stay in our hearts forever.

Whether you are interested in the fun activities, the service projects or just hanging out with your friends, we hope that you will help us make this the best year so far. Remember that your participation is the key element.
